Who we are
Kaunnect (“we”, “us”) operates the Kaunnect mobile and web applications. Contact: privacy@kaunnect.app. Grievance / DPDP contact: privacy@kaunnect.app (replace with your appointed officer before launch).
Data we collect
Account identifiers (phone, email, auth IDs); profile (name, date of birth for 18+ verification, optional gender/interested-in, optional professional fields, optional photo); presence data used only to verify you are at a place you choose; mystery clues you submit; messages after mutual connection; device tokens for notifications; blocks and safety reports; technical logs needed for security and abuse prevention.
How we use data
To verify venue presence; run mystery matching only among voluntary participants; deliver notifications (generic lock-screen copy by default); prevent abuse; comply with law; and improve product reliability. Peers never see your exact GPS coordinates or distance.
What we do not do
We do not show your profile to strangers browsing nearby; share exact GPS between users; sell personal data; or use your data for third-party advertising networks by default.
Legal bases & regional rights
India (DPDP): we process personal data for stated purposes with consent or other lawful bases, retain only as needed, and honour access/correction/erasure requests where applicable. EEA/UK (GDPR): you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising; you may request know/delete/correct. Contact privacy@kaunnect.app.
Retention & deletion
You can delete your account in-app (Profile → Account & privacy → Delete account). We soft-delete immediately, revoke access, and purge or anonymise personal data within 30 days except records we must keep for safety, fraud, or legal obligations (e.g. certain report logs). Location samples are minimised; verification outcomes may be retained for safety.
Your rights & data export
You can request a copy of your account data from Profile → Account & privacy → Download my data. We prepare a machine-readable export of profile, preferences, and safety records we hold about you.
Security
We use industry-standard controls including encrypted transit, access-controlled databases, and row-level security. No method is 100% secure; report concerns to privacy@kaunnect.app.
Cookies (web)
On the web app we use essential storage for session and security. Optional analytics cookies are used only with your consent via the cookie banner. You can change preference anytime from Account & privacy.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Updated” date and, where required, requesting renewed consent.
